Schengen Information

Short stay Schengen visa has to be obtained from the Embassy or Consulate of the country where the main destination in terms of length OR purpose of stay lies. If the main destination cannot be determined the short stay Schengen visa is to be issued by the country of first entry. Therefore, please check your travel plans before submitting your application to the Embassy of The Netherlands, New Delhi.

The Embassy of The Netherlands considers one a frequent traveller when one has during the past 5 (five) years received and used in a correct way 2 (two) visas of which at least 1 (one) was issued by a Schengen country, UK, USA, Canada, Australia and / or New Zealand.

If required by the Embassy of The Netherlands, an applicant may be requested to have a personal interview at the embassy’s visa Office (6/50 F, Shanti Path, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi 110021). This may be at random and is irrespective of whether one is a first time or frequent traveller.

Invitation for personal interviews with The Embassy of The Netherlands must be attended within 5 (five) working days from the date the application was submitted at the VFS Visa Application Centre for The Netherlands. If you do not attend the personal interview within 5 (five) working days from the date the application was submitted, your application will be considered closed, so you will need to apply afresh.
